Question by Victoria(:: Remedies for severe GERD/Acid Reflux?
I have had severe GERD for about 4 years now. I have tried many medicines but I am now on Protonix. I have severe nausia and burning in my throat. I have a scoping scheduled but the earliest they could get me in is in July! Doctors think I may be completely missing a sphincter in my esophogas. Do you have any remedies for GERD? Besides Tagamet and Alka-seltzer?

No Alka-Seltzer! That is absolutely not good for it. Nexium is good, but only for a couple of weeks. Try yogurt and mint tea for your stomach. You could have Helicobacter pylori which can be cured with antibiotics (two weeks’ worth). I kept having that, and had the up/down colonoscopy and down my throat, and was found to have that, which is a bacterial infection. They do not know what causes it, but they can cure it. It can also cause ulcers and cancer if left untreated. Applesauce is also good for it.
